Monday Madness, new items and How to Propagate Succulent Clippings!

It has been a while since my last post! A lot has been going on :) I spent some time working at the IGN offices in their esports department, and recently moved to a lovely house with a park of a backyard! As such I've recently become obsessed with propagating succulent clippings (how to links below)!

I have also been working on a few new designs for my Etsy shoppe. What do you think?

{Atomic Post Earrings in Blue} Other colors available

I also started a this line of flower necklaces. They look oddly charming, and are one of my favorite items! Since there aren't any posts with them, I'll post them now.

{Spring Bloom Necklace}

     Succulents are wonderfully funky plants. They are inexpensive (~2$/plant at Home Depot.) low maintenance,  and require less water. And since you can grow a new plant for a clipping, you can make MANY plants from ONE!! I've found a couple of sites that have useful information (that I'm utilizing now) on how to magically multiply your plants!

One of my fav. How-to sites: E How:  How to Propagate Succulents From Cuttings
Mr.BrownThumb: Plant Propagation: Succulents by leaf cuttings

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you try growing plants from clippings, and let me know how it turns out!

Make it Monday: Make Silver Jewelry Clean!

HAPPY MONDAY! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and a lovely Mother's Day celebration. I finally finished reading The Hunger Games Trilogy. I. was. addicted. to those books. I literally read each book in a day. The series is good! A very entertaining read if you're looking for something to read. So please check out The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
     I've also been on a pseudo-stained glass jewelry binge. Here are the pieces I worked on last week:
{Budding Yeast Earrings}
^Those are my new favorite earrings. Mainly because I'm quite pleased with the look, shape and colors. Because they really do look like tie-dyed glass but aren't! Yes...they are definitely pretty neat.
{Blue Algae Necklace}

{Green Algae Necklace}

{Teal Algae Necklace}

     Do you have lovely silver jewelry but are saddened to wear it because it's tarnished? Don't be sad, be glad because here is a quick, easy and inexpensive way to clean your silver jewelry without breaking...well anything!
     I've done this with my mother's jewelry because I'm allergic to sterling silver :( More importantly I can say that this works, from personal experience.
All you need:
  • Aluminum foil
  • baking soda
  • silver jewelry
  • water
  • toothbrush
     I love posting pics with how-to's but since I have none, here is a blogger that gots some. For further information please hop on over to the blog PlanetJune and support her blog. She has good pics and does a good job at explaining the procedure. Plus you can use an old (or new) toothbrush to help scrub off excess junk.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you're able to successfully clean your silver goods. Take care!

     Happy Make-It Monday! This week I've procures a couple of cute t-tutorials just for you and just in time to spruce up some tops for spring!
 I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend! Mine was pretty nice despite lots of coughing. I want to thank you if you visited the IPL weblink. Yeah...so the inner geek in me game out and I spent most of the weekend watching Starcraft2 games with the BF.

      Have you heard of the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins? It has been all the rage for my family members and a couple of my friends. My Aunt, uncle and cousin gave me a copy for Christmas and, in all honesty, I was reluctant to read it...but now that I've started it its tough to put down! Go figure. It really is a good book so if you're looking for an intriguing read for you nook, kindle, library: The Hunger Games.

On a less geeky note I felt inspired by last week's post and decided to make my own Anthro inspired necklaces and I'm quite pleased with how it came out. I didn't want to buy any supplies...and just kind went with it. I like it!

Make it Monday- Anthropologie Necklaces

ANNOUNCEMENT!
Click here to access the Coconut Head Jewelry Facebook Page. Dear friend, please like it. You know, you can even click the "Hide All Posts from Coconut Head" if you want...but I would greatly and dearly appreciate it if you did stop by and say hello.

      Happy Monday! Today's Make-it Monday will be comprised of a few crafts. I've stumbled upon this her posts several times at http://www.flamingotoes.com/ and am constantly impressed. For today's intent and purposes she does a wonderful job of taking jewelry from Anthropologie (one of my favorite, way to expensive for me to actually buy something, stores) and recreates it herself for much less.

     So, if you love, LOVE, love Anthropologie but don't want to hash out the cash for their goods make it yourself! I'm not much of a necklace wearer but these tutorials definitely make me want to try it out. Oh yeah, and I have a couple new items out in my shop...one of which happens to be a necklace!

Green Erlenmeyer Flask Earrings
$10  They are a little smaller than I normally make them, and they are so fresh and so green,green! <-- I really enjoy typing that.

Teal Erlenmeyer Flask Necklace $10
Alright, here are the pics and the blog source links will be below them. Most are pretty simple and look just like the actual store product!
